The recommendation engine assigns personalized tasks to a student based on his or her performance. Personalized tasks may be assigned to students from the learning objectives progress report.
Within the status summary report, select the students to assign a personal task, and then choose the option to "add personalized task." (In this case, tasks will be assigned to students to assist with remediation.) Upon choosing to add a personalized task, you will be navigated through three steps.
The first step is to select the tasks to assign to the students. The image below shows the resources that were recommended for each student. The resources are aligned to the learning objective (standard) in which the students need remediation. It is in this menu that the instructor may remove or add additional resources.
The resources are pulled from the library, so the more resources available in the library the better. It is also important to consider what learning objectives are being used to tag resources when they are shared in the library.
Each resource contains a description, rating, and an icon that indicates if it is text-based, video-based, an image or an interactive element. If users have taken the learning preference evaluation, the recommendation engine will assign resources based on a student's learning preference.
Clicking on the title of the resources allows you to view the content, while the + button will add the resource to a student's list.
After assigning the appropriate tasks to each student, choose "next." It is in the second step that an message is crafted for the student. The instructor may edit this default information, add a follow-up activity, and set a deadline.
It is important to note that the resources added to a personalized task are only exposures to content. A follow-up activity must then be assigned to assess a student's understanding. The activity may consist of a multiple choice quiz (test), a written response (assignment), or a face to face conversation with the instructor (custom activity).
The final step involves checking the content of the task and assigning it to the students.
